Myanmar: Consultant for Capacity Building on Energy efficiency in Food Processing Industries

1.Consultancy objectives

Many challenges exist for Myanmar stakeholders to reduce industrial environmental footprint and comply with national emission guidelines and comply with recently introduced compliance on development and implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP). The consultancy aims to deliver a systematic approach to encourage application of energy efficient practices and processes of F&B factories through building service market that includes building capacities (through the ToT approach) of local service providers (i.e. Local consultants, university professors, final year engineering students etc.) to apply low cost solutions for energy management practices in the F&B industry.

2.Scope of work

The consultant is expected to provide a detailed methodology and timeline for the Training of Trainers (ToT) including a follow up advance training, quality control and backstopping support for trainees and get it approved from the project. The consultant will also layout the training package for the factory owners and their technical staffs. The consultant will provide an awareness raising event for the industry and a series of trainings to these local service providers so that the providers have knowledge and know how on taking up energy efficiency assessment of each individual factors/ processing units with the potential and practical solutions. Additionally, the consultant will selected the most potential trainee and further provide additional training on energy efficiency to make they ready advance assessments. The consultant will provide a three days orientation/ training to interested business owner and their factory technician to provide ways and means of executing energy efficiency assessments and identification and implementation of possible cost efficient solutions before the start of individual factors assessment.

Output and deliverables

The consultant is supposed to deliver the following:

  1. Detailed work plan and methodology for the assignments including timelines

  2. Power point presentation on Awareness workshop

  3. Detailed training package on the ToT and follow up trainings and activities for local service provider/consultant

  4. Training completion report

  5. Training package to SMEs and technicians

  6. Training completion report

Requirements

· Extensive experience in energy efficiency and management field: assessment, implementation, review and audit

· Demonstrated experience in conducting energy efficiency assessments and energy audits designing and delivering training on energy efficiency/ audits relevant in the industry and to food and beverage industries

· Experience in practical factory visits and validating, reviewing and monitoring energy management

· Prior experience in conducting energy efficiency assessments/ audits in the industries including in Myanmar.

· Previous experience in assessment on energy efficiency for cleaner production.

· Knowledge of production, pollution parameters and level of impacts of different sub-sectors within F&B industry

· Fluency in English and experience in writing similar reports and preparing knowledge products
