The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one of the largest and most highly regarded conservation organization’s in the world and aims to stop the degradation of our natural environment and build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

The Role

Based in Fiji and reporting to the Asia Pacific Regional Director, the Director Pacific will lead the vision, strategic planning and institutional development of the country offices in the Pacific (Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands). As a proven leader with the capacity of growing an organization’s impact and building future leadership and talent pools, the Director Pacific will also bring high level negotiation, collaboration and enhancing skills with the capacity to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the region.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure country offices in Pacific region are managed effectively and efficiently in all key programme areas – conservation, operations, finance, people & culture, communications, marketing, fundraising, policy and partnerships. The successful applicant will also:

  • Provide overall direction and leadership in developing and executing the Pacific region’s strategic objectives.
  • Initiate and lead strategic partnerships to maintain and build crucial communications with all stakeholders.
  • Develop a realistic, well planned long term strategy and meet fundraising targets.
  • Ensure an excellent understanding of risk-based approaches to managing projects and programmes.
  • Represent the Pacific region in key internal network and external forums.
  • Continuously strengthen WWF’s profile, reputation and credibility in the Pacific region.
  • Build a culture of performance, positivity, engagement, creativity and work ethic.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least 10 years professional experience in a leadership role preferably with an NGO, 3-5 years of which should be in the Pacific region.
  • Advanced university degree in Conservation, Business Management, International Relations / Development, or other related fields.
  • Proven track record in successfully developing, leading, and managing large-scale programmes and/or institutions in the field of conservation, natural resource management, international development, and/or other related fields.
  • Successful track record in fund raising.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in English and other local languages.

Remuneration: An attractive national contract and package shall be negotiated with the successful candidate based on their appropriate knowledge and skills. Contract duration is for 3 years depending on annual performance review and funding availability.
