Consultancy for the development of a Compendium on Energy Efficiency in the Food & Beverage sector

WWF-Myanmar is now inviting applications for a consultancy for the Development of a Compendium on Energy Efficiency in the Food & Beverage sector which will be starting from April to June 2022 with home-based.

Background

WWF-Myanmar was established in 2014 and is working to conserve the country’s biodiversity and build a sustainable future for people and wildlife. The focus is on promoting green economy within national policies, and sustaining and protecting biodiversity and ecological connectivity of the landscape through an integrated landscape approach, and the Ayeyarwady river basin through an integrated river basin approach. This project, financed under the European Commission’s SWITCH-Asia programme, aims to enable 200 SMEs in the F&B sector in industrial zones in different cities to establish sustainable energy and water management through supporting services and business structures, increased capacity and improved access to finance. It was developed in collaboration with key stakeholders based on their perception of industry needs and impediments for cleaner production.

Objective of the consultancy

The objective of this consultancy is to give F&B companies and other stakeholders, such as service providers or associations, a good understanding of typical energy usage in F&B a good understanding of typical energy usage SMEs as well as concrete improvement potentials and the steps to take in improving the energy efficiency of the enterprise. This is to be achieved by compiling the lessons learned and useful case studies on energy efficiency in the F&B sector from the ongoing Tha Bar Wa project in a compendium, complementing them with additional materials, as needed.

Scope of work/ Major responsibility

The assignment will roughly consist in developing a draft structure for the compendium, based on a thorough understanding of F&B companies’ information needs, reviewing the materials on energy efficiency generated, identifying and filling gaps with external material, illustrating with graphs and photos, including concrete examples or case studies and in good English (translation to Myanmar will be in the hands of the contracting authority).

Required profile:

The international consultant or consultant team for this assignment should avail of the following qualifications and experience:

Team lead/ Individual consultant: Required:

· A university degree (at least Master level) in energy management, electrical or environmental engineering or a related field;

· At least five years of professional experience with industrial energy efficiency and the direct support of businesses with energy management and efficiency;

· At least two years of professional experience with awareness raising and capacity building on energy;

· Working experience with SMEs in Asia on issues of environmental or energy management.

Strong asset/ desirable:

· Professional experience with SMEs from the F&B sector in Myanmar, thus first-hand knowledge of typical processes and equipment.

Supporting staff should avail of a relevant academic background and/or relevant professional expertise to be able to conduct research and develop the compendium in line with the agreed outline.
