Overview

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Senior Program Officer, US Government Partnerships

Major Function

This position is a member of the US Government Partnerships team within Policy and US Government Affairs, which is responsible for managing relationships with US government officials who oversee conservation and related programs of relevance to WWF.

Responsibilities

Identifies strategic government partnership opportunities and leads efforts with colleagues at WWF US and across the Network, and external partners, consultants, and others to pursue these efforts with relevant U.S. Government agencies. Proactively identifies WWF initiatives and projects that may be of interest to U.S. Government agencies and supports outreach to those agencies. Gathers intelligence and conducts competitive analyses to advance WWF’s USG partnership goals. Keeps abreast of relevant programmatic issues in areas in which WWF has an ongoing interest. Maintains up to date knowledge of US Government Agency priorities, strategies, policies, and funding trends. Independently manages teams engaged in the development of mid-sized proposals ($2.5M in value or more), advising them on US Government standards and priorities. Independently develops critical technical elements of large ($20M+) proposals. Demonstrates knowledge of U.S. Government Automated Directives System (ADS) Operational Policy and works closely with WWF US Program Operations and Legal teams to ensure adherence to U.S. Government policies. Reviews narrative technical documents and cost proposal documents for compliance with US government objectives and requirements. Copy edits and compiles complex documents for submission to US government representatives, ensuring consistency and quality of presentation, ensuring adherence to agency requirements and WWF standards. Reviews regular reporting to ensure accuracy. Contributes to quarterly updates for leadership. Oversees work of external consultants and interns as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a graduate degree in a related field (such as natural resources management, environmental science, international development, or conservation policy) is preferred.

  • Position requires six years of related professional experience, or advanced degree with three to five years of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of US government partnership devleopment and technical proposal development for U.S. Government funding agencies (particularly USAID, USFWS and USDOS).

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent research and writing skills.
