SUMMARY OF POSITION
Lawyers Without Borders Canada (LWBC) is looking for a committed, dynamic, and open-minded individual who wants to contribute to access to justice initiatives that create broader change.
The Head of Mission will represent LWBC in Honduras and is responsible for the management of the team and all project activities on the ground.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for ensuring the attainment of results in Honduras;
- Supervise and coordinate the implementation and continuation of project activities in Honduras, ensuring the respect of budgets, contractual agreements, and applicable policies and procedures;
- Ensure consistent and effective collaboration between team members based in Tegucigalpa and Québec;
- Represent LWBC, developing and maintaining strong relations with national authorities and ministries, partners, donors, civil society and justice sector collaborators, and any other stakeholders in Honduras;
- Appropriately manage human, financial, and material resources
- Supervise the financial management and accounting for the project in Honduras, ensuring that norms and procedures are respected by staff and partners of LWBC;
- Advise, accompany, and motivate partners so as to ensure the fulfillment of project objectives;
- Analyse and evaluate the results obtained by the project, make recommendations to decision-makers, and make necessary adjustments in light of proposed approaches;
- Participate in project evaluation, notably in the drafting and coordination of work documents, including annual work plans, project financial and narrative reports;
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff in Honduras;
- Motivate staff and volunteers in Honduras and provide them with direction so as to ensure the attainment of project goals;
- Evaluate staff performance and follow up in this regard;
- Participate in the evaluation of processes and organizational efficiency for the Honduras project;
- Participate in the development of terms of reference and prepare programming for short term missions on the ground in Honduras or international volunteers;
- Develop and manage the security plan;
- Help to identify development opportunities;
- In general, carry out other related tasks that are useful or necessary for the project and/or organization.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND APTITUDES
- University degree in a relevant field (law, project management, international development, etc.) or a combination of equivalent study, training, and professional experience;
- At least five years of experience in a position of responsibility in international development, including results-based management and team management;
- Knowledge of human rights;
- Capacity to coordinate multiple partners and other collaborators;
- Strong networking abilities;
- Methodical and with an aptitude for research, analysis, and writing;
- Highly motivated, with a strong sense of international solidarity and support for LWBC’s values and mission;
- Capacity to work in an environment with security challenges;
- Aptitude for teamwork in a multidisciplinary context, with interpersonal intelligence, strategic vision, and political awareness;
- Highly motivated, takes initiative, resourceful, and has rigorous standards.
- Ability to work independently and with a flexible schedule, sometimes under pressure, and to travel as necessary;
- Excellent oral and written communication ability in Spanish, and in either French or English
- Experience or skills with respect to relationships with funders –governmental, institutional, or private- in international development, preferably with Canadian funders;
- Competency with office technology, in particular word processing, email, Internet, and databases.

- Lawyer;
- Work experience in Honduras;
- Knowledge of human rights, justice, and women’s issues in Honduras;
- Knowledge of the history; political, economic, legal situation; and social conditions of Honduras, along with a strong understanding of civil society actors working in the human rights field in Honduras;
- Experience and knowledge of one or more of the areas of intervention of the project (gender based violence, ending corruption, strategic litigation in emblematic human rights cases, legal aid and assistance, advocacy, and citizenship education);
- Competency in spoken and written French. **
SECURITY **
The security of employees and all project collaborators is a priority for LWBC. Security measures and protocols are applied for local personnel, expatriates, volunteers, and personnel on short-term missions. The chosen candidate will be trained on security measures and must be committed to respecting all security measures and protocols.
