Job description
Your role will be to support teams in the Sahel region (Niger) and in Central Africa (DRC and CAR) in collecting and disseminating knowledge and evidence (Knowledge management). This role is essential for developing intervention strategies and increasing their impact, increasing expertise in human rights and access to justice in the region, and supporting national and regional advocacy actions built on ASF's experience.
You will report to the Director of Strategic Support (Brussels) and maintain a technical/functional link with the country teams, the Knowledge and Learning unit in Brussels and the Learning and Research Managers in ASF's various regions of intervention.
Main responsibilities
- You lead the knowledge and learning management strategy in the region, helping programs to extract lessons learned and highlight results achieved within the framework of defined objectives, and contribute to the quality of the work carried out through capacity building and support for civil society organizations.
- In support of our teams, you will set up MEAL systems for each project, while ensuring systemic coherence, support the preparation and dissemination of reports and evaluations, suggest the use of innovative monitoring-evaluation techniques to better capture the impact of our actions, and support our teams in their use.
- You contribute to the research strategy on the basis of identified thematic priorities and in line with the advocacy strategy, and support teams (internal and external) in the development of research.
- You will assess needs and contribute to building the skills of partners and staff required to achieve project MEAL objectives.
- You contribute to the reinforcement of adapted, efficient and realistic field monitoring systems according to projects (monitoring of prison conditions, civic space, observation of trials, violation of community rights, etc.).
Profile required
- Master's degree in law, sociology, anthropology, criminology, etc.
- At least 5 years' professional experience in operational research
- Experience in Central Africa and/or the Sahel
- Knowledge of and participation in North and South academic networks
- Experience of working in fragile contexts
- Fluency in French; knowledge of English is desirable
- Willingness to travel regularly in the countries concerned
- Excellent ability to work in a team, both face-to-face and remotely
